Paule Dubois
Dupuis - Moments
Oil on Canvas
reception
friday, October 17, 6-9pm
As an artist, Dubois Dupuis follows the thinking of DaVinci,
preferring the learning experiences derived from direct observation
and experience of life. Her paintings are non-representational,
but she gains her inspiration from the people and events of
daily life. More than traditional abstract formal concerns,
she is interested in the emotion contained in each piece, for
herself and the viewer.
Her work has been shown in exhibits worldwide including solo
shows with the Paula Barr Gallery New York City this year in
April 2008, Quebec, Salon des Artisans in Ottawa, Ontario 1990
and has been in group shows at the Florence Bienniale 2005,
and finally, has had both group and solo shows with the Pamela
Skinner Art Gallery in Sacramento and in numerous Bay Area exhibitions
including Mission Cultural Center, San Francisco, “Visionary
Woman Exhibition” March 2005, curated by Patricia Rodriguez.

opening reception, "Get Fried Up!"
friday, april 18, 7-11pm
exhibition dates
april 18–june 19, 2008
Knoend is proud to present a multidisciplinary showcase of innovative
sustainable design projects pioneered in the San Francisco Bay Area
at the Design Guild SF Gallery. The exhibition's goal is to inspire
our community's creativity about how everyone -- from professional
designers to your neighbor on the street -- are (at heart) designers,
with the imagination to design a more sustainable world.
The show officially opens its doors at 7pm. 'Teacher With a Bus'
founder Jens-Peter Jungclaussen will be presenting his vegetable-oil
fueled bus and speaking on the latest news and controversies on
biodiesel and alternative fuels. Delicious finger foods fried
in organic olive oil (later to be fuel for the bus) will be served
throughout the evening along with cocktails from our sponsor Veev.
Knoend will begin taking patients in their ReLife Clinic - a special
clinic that designs the next lifecycles for objects. Show-goers
are encouraged to bring photographs of personal objects that need
a new life.

Sentient Salon
In Sentient’s first show, artists Heather Brubaker, Peter
Samuels, and Nate Pagel explore the theme of consciousness through
different media: paint, photography, and video. The varying forms
of media take on distinct voices of expression. Each respectively
transcends the mundane nature of every day objects and suggests
the possibility of latent consciousness.
